Durga Temple

Durga Temple

This temple of Maa is one of the ancient temples of Kashi. It is said that the temple was built in the year 1760 by Rani Bhavani of Bengal. At that time the cost of building the temple was 50 thousand rupees. Mother Durga is seated in the form of a Yantra in this temple. Along with this, idols of Baba Bhaironath, Goddess Saraswati, Lakshmi and Kali are also installed separately in the temple. It is mandatory to visit the priest's temple here after visiting the mother. Only then the worship of the mother is complete.

It is believed that Maa Durga rested here after killing the demons Shumbha and Nishumbha. It is said that the mother resides here in the form of Adi Shakti and this temple is from ancient times. In ancient times, there were only three temples in Kashi, first Kashi Vishwanath, second Maa Annapurna and third Durga temple. Some people also do Tantra Puja here. Havan is performed everyday in the Havan Kund located here.
