Navratri Puja

Navratri is a nine-day festival celebrated in India to worship the nine forms of the goddess Durga. It is celebrated twice a year, once in the month of Chaitra (March-April) and the other in the month of Ashwin (September-October). Navratri Puja is performed during these nine days to seek blessings and protection from the goddess Durga.

Here are the steps to perform Navratri Puja:

  1. Clean the Puja area: Start by cleaning the area where you will perform the puja. This area should be free of dust and dirt.
  2. Install the idol or picture of goddess Durga: Install the idol or picture of goddess Durga on the puja platform. Decorate it with flowers, garlands, and other decorations.
  3. Kalash Sthapana: Fill a kalash (a brass or copper pot) with water, add some coins, rice, and betel nut, and place it on the platform. The kalash symbolizes prosperity and abundance.
  4. Light the lamp: Light a lamp and place it on the puja platform. The lamp symbolizes the light of knowledge and wisdom.
  5. Offer flowers: Offer flowers to the goddess Durga while chanting mantras. You can also offer fruits, sweets, and other items that are considered as her favorite.
  6. Perform Aarti: Perform Aarti of goddess Durga with the lamp. You can use camphor or incense sticks to create a pleasant fragrance.
  7. Chant Mantras: Chant mantras dedicated to goddess Durga to seek her blessings and protection. You can recite the Durga Chalisa, Durga Saptashati, or any other mantras.
  8. Conclude the Puja: After the puja, offer the prasad to the goddess Durga and then distribute it among the devotees.
