Introduction:
Shri Vishalakshi Mata Temple is one of the most sacred temples in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, dedicated to Goddess Vishalakshi, a form of Goddess Parvati. The name Vishalakshi means “the wide-eyed goddess”, symbolizing her all-seeing divine vision. It is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hindu tradition.

Religious Significance:
According to legend, when Goddess Sati self-immolated, Lord Shiva carried her body in grief, and her body parts fell at various places, forming the Shakti Peethas.
It is believed that Sati's earring (kundal) or face fell at this spot, making it a Shakti Peetha.
The temple is one of the three most sacred Shakti temples, along with:
Meenakshi Temple in Madurai (Tamil Nadu)
Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati (Assam)
